Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Title: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Author: J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, Jack Thorne
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: Little Brown UK
Publication Date: July 31st, 2016
From Goodreads:
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne, is the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. It will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.
Why we are waiting:
Who isn’t waiting on this one? It’s the continuation of the story that we have all been waiting for. I mean, it’s not quite the format we wanted, but hey, it’s Harry freakin’ Potter!
I am worried about the fact that this is a script and not a novel. I am worried that it will read awkwardly, but I won’t know until I get my hands on it July 31st! Plus, I can’t wait to see how Albus Severus has grown up.
What are you waiting on? Tell us in the comments!
I’m equal part excited, part scared, over this. I’m just hoping it’ll be amazing, but the script thing worries me, and my expectations are killing me. I hope we both love it, though. Thanks for sharing, and happy Wednesday! 🙂

I feel the same. I am hoping the fact that it’s a script doesn’t ruin it for me.
*sigh* I wish I could go see the play. This will have to do.

I put off picking it because I figured everyone else would, but it’s getting close. Can’t avoid it any more. 😛

I’m excited or it, but I’m also unsure because of the format it will be in. Good pick though!

I loved it. I loved going on another adventure. I love that I just got to be with HP one more time. I didn’t care it was a script, the writing and the characters were still as I remember them and more. LOVE.

Deeply disappointing. Trying not to let it ruin the original series for me. Why couldn’t she just let it be???? 😭😭😭
